Crew
Directed by debutant female filmmaker Varsha Vasudev, “Chinna Chinna Aasai” is a poetic bilingual romantic drama that brings together two veteran powerhouse performers—Indrans and Madhoo (Madhubala of Roja fame). Shot entirely in the holy city of Varanasi, the film promises a gentle, heartwarming story about self-discovery, lost connections, and innocent friendship.
🎬 A Mani Ratnam Connection!
Did You Know? The film’s title is a nostalgic tribute to the legendary song “Chinna Chinna Aasai” from the 1992 classic Roja, which was a massive breakthrough for the lead actress, Madhoo! To honor this beautiful connection, legendary director Mani Ratnam personally unveiled the first-look poster for this movie.
About the Movie – The Plot
On the timeless ghats of Varanasi, a chance encounter brings two complete strangers together. When a lost classical dancer (Madhoo) bumps into a gentle traveler (Indrans), they spend a day sharing boat rides, quiet conversations, and rediscovering joy, forming a pure and unexpected bond in the spiritual city.
The Lead Pair: Indrans & Madhoo
The highlight of the film is its extremely refreshing lead pair. Audiences are absolutely loving the pairing of Indrans (who usually plays intense or quirky roles) in a tender, romantic, and poetic space alongside the legendary Madhoo. Directed with a sensitive touch by female director Varsha Vasudev, the film’s title itself is a nostalgic nod to Madhoo’s iconic song from Roja.
